King Fou was founded in Graz in 2008, with the goal of combining various folkloric and traditional instruments in
unconventional ways with a classic rock instruments. During our many jam sessions our repertoire of instruments
has expanded, creating an intense, living musical mixture of fresh and diverse original compositions.
During our concerts we create manifold possible musical combinations with many instruments, which include
xylophone, metallophone, hammered dulcimer, electric guitar, acoustic guitar, bass, trumpet, didgeridoo and
melodica as well as various percussion instruments, such as darabouka, djembes and drums. The intensity of the
individual instruments changes throughout the performance, sometimes occupying the foreground, sometimes
the background. This way we can create different sound spaces - from melodic to rhythmically impulsive – and
elude being categorized according to any pre-existing musical genre. Our sound is still very much recognizable,
very much its own and very much King Fou.
