Le groupe Chrysalide s'est formé en 1996 à Limoges autour de Geoffroy Vincens et Jacques Malinvaud, respectivement bassiste et guitariste. Le premier projet abouti du groupe est l'album La Chute qui voit le jour entre novembre 1997 et avril 1998, avec l'appui de Marie Golfier, au chant. Les conditions d'enregistrement, assez rudimentaires, n'ont pas permis la diffusion de cet opus. Pour des raisons universitaires, Chrysalide a cessé son activité dans le courant de l'année 1998. C'est au cours de l'année 2003, que le projet a connu une renaissance, dans le cadre de l'enregistrement de l'opus Après la Chute, troisième album de la trilogie initialement prévue. Celui-ci s'est effectué à Bordeaux entre février et novembre 2004. Fort de l'avis de leurs proches, Jacques et Geoffroy décident de diffuser leur réalisation.
